TEVTA Introduces a Novel Training Program: Learning Practical Skills with Financial Incentives
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has launched a Training Program called Dual Training System (DTS) Program under which the aspiring candidates shall be imparted professional training with market based technical skills in the selected areas which are highly in demand in the market.
Under this Training Program the Theory part of the course shall be taught in the TEVTA designated institutes and the practical part of the training called Workplace Based Training (WBT) shall be delivered in different relevant industries identified and selected for the purpose.
To keep the candidates motivated, a stipend of Rs.15,000/- per month shall also be paid to them during currency of the Training Program.
This the first I came across such an opportunity where hands-on practical training is being provided to the candidates in the industrial setting with practical engagement and active participation in tasks to give the candidates practical experience enabling them to learn marketable skills.
This blog post is aimed to highlight some of the salient features of this skill-based Training Program so that the students may maximally be benefited from this opportunity.
This Training Program is designed to combine theoretical instructions with real world, practical and on-the-job training. This Program aims to bridge the gap between education and industry needs, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the workforce
Key features of the Program include:
- Industry collaboration: Partnerships with local industries and businesses to provide students with real-world experience and skills relevant to the job market.
- Integrated curriculum: A curriculum that blends classroom learning with hands-on training in actual work environments.
- Skills development: Focus on developing both technical skills and soft skills, such as communication and teamwork.
Employment opportunities: Increased job placement opportunities for graduates due to their practical experience and industry connections.
This initiative is part of TEVTA's broader efforts to enhance vocational education and training, ultimately contributing to economic development and employment in the region.
On visiting the KPK TEVTA official website I found a copy of the advertisement titled- Expression of Interest (EoI) floated in the print as well as social media for shortlisting of firm, business, companies and industrial units for imparting Workplace Based Training and subsequently a total of 24 firms firm, business, companies and industrial units (having 25 plus employees) were shortlisted and selected for imparting Workplace Based Training to the selected candidates under this Program.
So, it seems to be an exciting opportunity. It provides students with valuable practical experience, making them more competitive in the job market. Additionally, it helps bridge the gap between education and industry needs, ensuring that the skills being taught are directly relevant to current job demands.
I believe, the students can greatly benefit from this opportunity in several ways:
- Hands-on experience: Students gain practical skills by working directly in industry settings which enhances and refines their understanding of theoretical concepts learned in the classroom. Hence, the Program provides a balanced mix of theoretical and practical training, which is essential for mastering technical skills.
- Job readiness: The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills makes students more job-ready, increasing their employability. Students who complete such programs often find it easier to secure employment because they possess hands-on experience that employers value.
- Industry connections: Students have the chance to network with professionals in their field which can lead to job offers and career advancement opportunities.
- Skill development: The Program helps students develop both technical and soft skills, such as problem-solving, communication, and teamwork which are essential in any workplace.
Competitive advantage: It bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, helping students understand how their skills are used in real-world settings. Students of this Program shall have a competitive edge in the job market due to their comprehensive training and hands-on experience.
By participating in such a Program, students are better prepared to meet the demands of the workforce and can often transition more smoothly into their professional careers.
Overall, it prepares students effectively for the job market and can give them a competitive edge in their careers. I highly recommend this Training Program, especially for the students who are pursuing technical and vocational education in the academic career as starting point.
