Death smiles at us when we smile at the obstacles of life

“Life smiles at you when you smile at the obstacles of life”. This was the post shared by Sajjad Ul Hassan, one of my colleagues and friend, on his Facebook page 02 days before he passed away. His sudden demise shocked and deeply saddened me and all of my associates with whom he worked during his professional career at Khyber Medical University, Peshawar. Indeed, it is truly said in the Holy Book:

This blog post is aimed at remembering some of my awe-inspiring and exceptionally pleasant colleagues and friends with whom I worked very closely as a part of the team during my professional life and who are no more with us.

Sajjad Ul Hassan was a humble soul and a thorough gentleman. He was a refined person, we lost at an early age. He was in recovery from some serious kidneys related complications. He remained off from office for a couple of months and has recently returned back to the workplace. He met me and many of his colleagues two days back. From this whole episode, what I gather is, “Death smiles at us when we smile at the obstacles of life”.

His sudden demise reminded me some of my other colleagues and friends with whom I worked very closely during my professional life and who are no more with us. Verily life is ridiculously uncertain and too short for any age.

Dr Hafiz Muhammad Ilyas, Dr. Muhammad Jaffar Khan, Prof. Dr. Shahnaz Akhtar, Dr. Aneesa Fatima, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Numan, Anwar Shah, Mehboob Chacha and Noor Shah Jehan Khattak were few of them who worked as a part of the KMU family and left us for eternal abode. They were great colleagues and delightful people. But very sadly, they weren’t the only few in my personal and ageing circle, the thinking of which deeply shatter me.

May Allah (SWT) forgive them and bestow His mercy upon them. May Allah (SWT) grant them the highest ranks in Jannah. They will always be alive in our hearts. May Allah (SWT) rest their soul in eternal peace.

This also reminds me of a very important message- the next may be my number to depart and join them. May Allah (SWT) help prepare all of us for that day to be the most beautiful day of our life.
